With over 25 years of professional experience as a psychologist, Dr. John Grbac provides a variety of services to children and families of central Florida. Beginning as a YMCA camp counselor at age 17, later volunteering at a crisis hotline while attending U.C.F., Dr. Grbac has always been dedicated to the happiness and health of children and teenagers.

Dr. Grbac completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Central Florida in 1992. He received his graduate degree at the Florida Institute of Technology, and in 1996 completed his internship at the Bradley Center of St. Francis Hospital in Georgia.

Dr. Grbac has been in private practice caring for our community since 1997, and currently owns and operates Orlando Psychology Associates. He specializes in the assessment and treatment of emotional and behavioral problems for children, adolescents and families.

When working with children, “Dr. John’s” therapeutic style quickly creates a connection and provides comfort. He is well known for his pleasant nature, child-friendly approach, and vast clinical background which fosters trust and support when dealing with challenging life problems. He is especially successful with resistant teens. His down-to-earth personality is refreshing, and allows for difficult emotional issues to be confronted and resolved. Although a majority of his practice involves children, many adults rely on him for individual psychotherapy.

Dr. Grbac is respected for his knowledge and talents in helping families challenged by AD/HD, ASD, anxiety and depression. He has expertise in the areas of child abuse and sexual abuse intervention. In addition, Dr. Grbac also has extensive professional experience with family conflict and divorce issues. He is a certified Family Mediator, a qualified Parenting Coordinator, and is trained in collaborative law and as a Guardian ad Litem. He has noteworthy skills in identifying and addressing parental alienation dynamics and in providing therapeutic reunification counseling. Dr. Grbac developed a state approved educational program, Coping with Divorce, designed to help divorcing parents and their children.

Dr. Grbac has served as an adjunct faculty member for several colleges locally, to include Rollins College, Valencia College and Troy State University. Since starting his practice, he has provided undergraduate students an educational internship experience at his office.

Serving victims of crime, Dr. Grbac has been a trusted referral source for the Victim Services Coalition. Recognized for his support of children impacted by child abuse, he has been the proud recipient of the Mental Health Services Provider Award. He has also been fortunate to have his talents recruited at the national level, featured on the NBC Today Show segment “Live for Today” and the Golf Channel.

As coach, “Dr. John” assisted young athletes and their parents in maximizing the educational and psychosocial benefits of sports. He has enjoyed coaching youth soccer, and did so for many seasons in Orlando, Maitland, Winter Park and Winter Garden.

Dr. Grbac receives the Mental Health Services Award of 2000 from the State’s Attorney.
