Melissa Boeing is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and National Certified Counselor with experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology, with a minor in Cognitive Sciences from the University of Central Florida in 2013. She earned a Master of Arts Degree in Mental Health Counseling, with a certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy from Rollins College in 2018.

Ms. Boeing specializes in working with children and teens, and enjoys using sensory techniques and creativity through art, music, and play in sessions. She has provided counseling services in many different settings including outpatient community mental health programs, public and private schools, residential programs, and via telehealth.

Ms. Boeing has experience with group counseling through psychoeducational programs for children and their parents, focusing on behavior management and effective parenting skills. In addition, she has expertise in facilitating social/interpersonal skills training to children and teens with Autism and related disabilities. Ms. Boeing has also provided mental health services to community members in People with Special Needs shelters throughout Central Florida during natural disasters, such as hurricanes.

Treatment

Ms. Boeing supports children and adolescents with a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). She has experience in working with families who are coping with divorce, including assistance with effective parenting/co-parenting skills. Ms. Boeing also treats clients of all ages struggling with anxiety, depression, anger management, identity and self-esteem issues. In addition, she cares for those challenged by substance abuse, behavior management, family and relationship concerns, grief, and trauma.

In treatment, Ms. Boeing focuses on building rapport and trust with clients to create a safe space for them to share their stories and challenge themselves. She uses the therapeutic relationship to guide clients towards personal growth and help them gain an understanding of themselves and their past, focus on their present, and change their future.

Ms. Boeing utilizes a person-centered and strengths-based integrative approach drawing from a variety of different theories and techniques, as needed, to meet the individual needs of each client. She believes in holistic health, which focuses on the important connection between the mind and the body. Ms. Boeing has always been passionate about helping others and thoroughly believes in the power of therapy. She aspires to change the stigma surrounding mental health through education and advocating for fair access to mental health services for all.

Ms. Boeing is a proud member of the American Counseling Association and the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. She also enjoys volunteering with Orange County and Osceola County Public Schools.
