Katherine (Kathy) Erlacher, LMHC is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with over 23 years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Ms. Erlacher has always been passionate about helping others, and began her career working with the Department of Children and Families (DCF) as a Foster Care Counselor, where she assisted children who had been abused, neglected, and exploited. After leaving DCF, she served the Central Florida community working in psychiatric hospitals, private practice, and various community agencies. Ms. Erlacher has expertise working with depression, anxiety, mood disorders, ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), substance abuse, and couple/family issues.
Ms. Erlacher received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology in 1983 from the University of Central Florida. She received her Master of Science Degree in Counseling and Psychology from Troy University in 1998 and then attended Walden University, where she received additional doctoral-level training.
Treatment
Ms. Erlacher uses a client-centered, mindfulness, and eclectic approach treating each client in an accepting, open, friendly, and professional manner allowing the client to reach their greatest potential. In treatment, expect to receive compassion, understanding and empathy while endeavoring on a path to improve daily life management.
Ms. Erlacher is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, a Qualified Supervisor for LMHC’s, and has certifications in anxiety and substance abuse treatment. She received Gottman Level 1 certification, reflective of her skill in assisting couples manage conflict, and facilitating the deepening of friendship and intimacy. In addition, she is certified to complete court-ordered competency evaluations for adolescents. Ms. Erlacher has also worked extensively with children and adults of all ages, and has facilitated court-mandated classes for parents going through divorce.
Community
Ms. Erlacher is a member of the Mental Health Counselors Association of Central Florida and Psi Chi National Honor Society in Psychology. She works with her German Shepherd dog in scent training to assist in locating drugs and weapons when called upon by local private schools.
